Organisation Objective

To deliver high quality care that is safe, person and family centred, equitable and clinically effective which includes people partnering in their own healthcare. We aim to achieve this by gaining meaningful input from our community.

 

Community Participation

Kyabram District Health Service (KDHS) aims to have community members who are engaged in activities and committees across the organisation. Our Community and Cultural Governance committee is a sub-committee reporting to the KDHS Board. Their focus is to ensure the health service undertakes a comprehensive and consistent approach to informing the community of the effectiveness and value of its work. The Community and Cultural Governance Committee focus on providing opportunities for community members to shape the development and improvement of policy and strategies that influence the way in which services are planned and delivered.

How you can help

  • By being a community representative on a committee, including a Governance Committee or Organisational Committee that meet regularly and operate under a terms of reference
  • By being involved in small work parties to review the services provided at KDHS and to ensure that KDHS continues to be inclusive.
  • By assisting in the review of consumer information. This includes reading over consumer information such as brochures, posters and pamphlets to ensure ease of reading, clear information and that consumers can understand the information provided.

Consumer Register

Kyabram District Health Service has established a register of consumers, carers and community members who are interested in being involved and contributing to policies, programs and services from a community perspective.

KDHS supports community participation by providing orientation to our service, information about community participation and training opportunities.
